Kendall Kilpatrick Recognized as Engineer of the Year by Mobile Area Council of Engineers
POSTED ON 4/02/25
MOBILE, Ala. — Thompson Engineering CEO Kendall Kilpatrick has been named Engineer of the Year by the Mobile Area Council of Engineers (MACE), honoring his leadership, contributions to the local engineering profession, and continued service to the Mobile community.
The award was presented during MACE’s annual awards ceremony held in March 2025. Each year, MACE recognizes engineers who exemplify professional excellence, civic involvement, and commitment to advancing the industry. Founded in 1967, the organization represents a wide range of engineering disciplines and serves as a unifying body for engineers across the Mobile region. The annual event also supports the University of South Alabama through scholarships funded by MACE to encourage the next generation of engineers.
Kilpatrick joined Thompson Engineering in 2023 and in that short time has guided the company’s operational growth, client development, and technical excellence. Under Kilpatrick’s leadership, Thompson Engineering continues to expand its service offerings and geographic footprint across the Southeast. The firm’s core service lines include Engineering, Environmental, Drilling & Testing, Construction, and Buildings & Environments. Recent growth initiatives, including the expansion into Texas transportation markets, reflect the company’s ongoing commitment to client service and market leadership across the Gulf Coast and Southeastern U.S.
MACE’s Engineer of the Year recognition serves not only as a professional milestone but as acknowledgment of Kilpatrick’s lasting impact on the Mobile engineering community, the clients he serves, and the employees he leads. In addition to his leadership at Thompson, Kilpatrick remains active in numerous industry organizations, consistently demonstrating his commitment to both the profession and the broader Gulf Coast region.
In addition to Engineer of the Year, MACE presents several other awards each year, including these categories: Young Engineer of the Year, Industry Innovator (Special Recognition), Individual of Special Recognition, Engineering Project of the Year, Aerospace Engineer of the Year, Chemical Engineer of the Year, Civil Engineer of the Year, Electrical Engineer of the Year, Engineering Manager of the Year, Marine Engineer/Naval Architect of the Year, Mechanical Engineer of the Year, Engineering Educator of the Year, and Plant Engineer of the Year. These honors reflect MACE’s commitment to recognizing both emerging talent and longstanding leaders within the local engineering community.
Previous MACE award recipients from Thompson Engineering include Senior Project Manager Charles Weber and posthumous recognition for Jake Gibbs.
