A new build, facility expansion, disaster-related repairs, and inspections of aging infrastructure are just some of the reasons you could be in need of a structural engineer. Thompson Engineering’s experience includes numerous successes in each of these categories for clients in the industrial, transportation, and commercial markets.
Looking to expand your facility? Our Front End Engineering Design (FEED) offers up-front engineering to determine or manage project budgets and costs so that you can make decisions about your ability and plans to expand.
Is your aging building or bridge in need of repairs? Our structural engineers, designers, and inspectors can help you pinpoint the most critical needs to ensure continued functionality of your structure.
Has your facility been damaged in a natural disaster? Our structural engineers are experienced in inspections of storm-related damage. Whether your facility needs structural repairs, rebuild design services, or structural evaluations related to insurance claim investigations, we can help you get your business back in service.
How do we help? Our strength is two-fold. First, our structural team’s experience means we can offer multiple options for meeting the goals of your project. From AASHTO girder pre-cast/pre-stressed bridges, to ship docking facilities, to industrial tank foundations and access platforms, to large museums, fire stations, safe rooms, and schools, we’ve designed it. Furthermore, we’ve worked closely with contractors to see our designs built. Through time spent on the construction site, we understand the value (in time and dollars) of designing a structure that is constructible. Additionally, we know how to work with contractors to find the most cost-effective solutions available.
Second, we have the advantage of working directly with our in-house geotechnical engineers to provide cost-effective solutions for structural foundations. Our foundation design experience is one of the hallmarks of our firm’s capabilities. From shallow to deep foundations, as well as retaining walls and all sorts of specialty foundations, we’ve tackled some of the Southeast’s most ambitious projects with success.
Thompson’s design incorporated intricate and well-conceived solutions that we could understand and build, even in the most challenging working conditions our marine construction group has ever faced.
